An immediate denture is a type of denture which is fabricated before you go for a teeth extraction process. The denturists take an impression of your teeth and craft a denture for your unique dental needs. A temporary solution, the dentures are inserted into your mouth immediately after your extraction and save you from having to go with gaps in your mouth. These dentures serve both aesthetic and functional purposes.
The immediate dentures at Harbour City Denture Clinic look and feel natural. Despite being a temporary solution, they help you get your smile back the same day you undergo an extraction procedure. You can also gradually go back to eating what you love with these dentures!
Listed below are the benefits of immediate dentures:
Allows your smile to be restored immediately after an extraction is carried out.
Protects the gum tissues that become sensitive after the extraction process.
Prevents swelling of the gums and keeps food from causing irritation at the extraction sites.
Enables faster healing, although the time required may vary from patient to patient.
Looks and feels natural and helps you feel confident when you speak or smile.

Immediate dentures may sound ideal, but it is important to understand the limitations of the process so you can decide whether they are the best choice for you. Since you cannot "try-in" the teeth before they are finished there are aesthetic compromises that will have to be accounted for. When it comes to immediate dentures, you also need to keep in mind that during the first year there will also be significant bone loss. As your dentures become looser (and there is more movement), you will need to have temporary liners applied by the denturist to keep your denture fitting properly. Then approximately 6 to 8 months after extractions, you will need a permanent reline done so your dentures will fit the new contours of your jaw.
